I am very honoured to post the first message on the Eddie Jobson forum !

After becoming a real fan when hearing the solo from 'I Promise...' from the Zappa album in New York, I followed Eddie's career till present.

Fantastic solo albums & lots of collaborations - impossible to name them all !

But it is too bad there is no way we can enjoy his works of the last twenty years, such as the follow-up of Theme of secrets ( is it still on the shelf ? ),
the Viper & Nash Bridges themes & other advertising music, the african & opera things Eddie talks about in an interview, Theme of Knowledge, the Pink album demo's, the new UK stuff, eventually more piano solo works like the Piano One record, some more Korg sampler music ( excellent ! ), similar music such as Eddie's three compositions on the Voices of Life album...

Maybe Globe Music could compile a cd with all the available works still on the shelf - don't let it gather more dust !

I think many fans would be thrilled with such a project !!!

Now on the 1st of January, I wish everyone a Happy New Year !

A devoted fan from Tielt in Belgium.

WoW! COOL! The site is opening up!!!!!!

I have checked Eddie's site for the last year !
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Eddie Jobson is my all-time favorite musician.
I mean all-time, not limited to our lifetime.
I dare say I am Eddie Jobsons biggest fan. My friends will attest to that (and my girlfriend has heard 30 years about 8 million times as well. )

I saw UK in Vancouver opening for Jethro Tull in 1979, when I was in grade 9, and Eddie Jobson was my fave musician then as well. Freaked me right out. I have been inspired to go on to make a life playing keyboards, singing and violin as well. :)

-------------------------------------------------
Ok: 1) my fave violin solo: WORLD, curved air. What a gas!
2) Fave chord progression: 30 years, UK end bit. Gotta say that that is totally original. Just kills me.
3) fave vocal bit: colour code, ZINC. Totally cool. Psychedelic as all hell.
4) fave synth bit: zappa in New York. Could anyone play anything cooler than that?

--------------------------------------------------
My wish list for the Jobson site:

1) Questions from the fans, and answers from Eddie Jobson, eg: "when playing violin, do you hold the violin up with your left hand at all, or is it totally supported by your jaw?" At the end of the turn it over video solo, he lifts his head up, the violin doesn't fall to the floor.

2) Video clips. I have never seen Curved air footage and LOVE the line-up with Eddie Jobson and Kirby.

3) Fat Grapple music bits. Are there any recordings? Photos? Interviews or profiles of the other musicians and poets?

4) More information about the LOST ALBUM for the mid eighties.

5) Personal music sharing of fan compostions. Eg: anyone who looks at my website SuperGroovy.ca, and emails me (GOGO) and says that they are an Eddie Jobson fan as well, I will send them my CD, if they wish to cover the couple dollars postage. I would also love to hear music that Eddie Jobson inspired from other people. This is a really cool time that we live in.

6) Fun philosophy and chatter from Eddie Jobson himself. We know soooo little about the man.

------------------------------------
If Eddie Jobson reads this, congrats on being my Fave musician, I guess, have a gas, know that you are well loved all over the world.
And, what about the violin that changes colours as you play???
Pychedelic ? YAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is wonderful to know that there are other people in this world who feel about Eddie and his music the way I do! Let's keep our fingers crossed that this forum will lead to Eddie's musical return to his devoted fans!

I for one, desperately need more of his excellence. I have listened to hundreds of brilliant musicians throughout my life, but only one has truly touched every single part of my being, only one stands out from all the others for me, only one has caused me to search to the ends of the earth for every recorded note he has ever played: Eddie.

First of all there is his heartfelt dedication to his music; the obvious passion and confident competence with which he plays; the touch of class he brings to everything he does. Eddie does not just write songs, he composes works of art - soundscapes that transcend the boundaries of space and time. His music takes me into a very weird, but beautiful universe straightaway. It is as if I am entering the passages of my (or his) brain and I find myself on an amazing cerebral journey with strange things to look at everywhere. I cannot get enough of this intoxicating experience.

There is more, apart from the music: The slender, sensitive hands; the beautiful, mysterious face; the brilliance shining from his crystal-blue eyes; the self-assured stance. There is nobody like Eddie. For me he is the ultimate musician.

Finally, on a more personal note - thank you Eddie for the substance and meaning you’ve brought into my life, for always being there for me through your music. Staring silently from the Zoot Allures album cover, you have listened to my ramblings for many years and therefore know more about me than anybody else. I am forever indebted and devoted to you.

wow this is so cool to finally have the eddie sight up and running
until my dear friend introduced me to sir eddie i had all but
put my violin up on a shelf (very sad) however upon hearing the way
he plays and ronches out on the instrument with the grace and charm all the while giving rock and roll a sweet touch of class has greatly inspired me and once again i have found a new love in the instrument i had been very frustrated with the practicing doesnt seem as painful knowing that practice makes perfect mister eddie is definitly proof of that
wow to hit the high notes and not screech or sound in the least bit grainy
just for that alone mister eddie you are my hero and someone that inspires me to play and play some more
my wish is that your music could be in every household inspiring all who listens

What a wonderful site, dedicated to a wonderful musician and his adoring fans.

I love gogo's site ideas. Sometime this year I'd love to redo my favorite UK track, In The Dead Of Night (live version), just to have a copy with my own fingerprints on it.

And hopefully we can pester Jobson-sama into releasing something in the vein of his works in the 70s and early 80s. After all this time, I'm still famished for more! Patrick Moraz, Jordan Rudess and a very few others have some marvelous stuff, but the surface of this world of progressive rock is still so woefully unexplored, especially in the way Eddie J does it.

Here's to a marvelous new year with some enticing news for us all!

~Steve

One day, I want my keyboard studio to be a synth museum like Hans Zimmer's
And to play and write half as well as The Maestro

Like I mentioned in my first post on here yesterday(Feb15/06.),I am truly thrilled to have found this site as I had no idea it actually existed.
I agree with some of you above, that Eddie Jobson has such an original slant on prog rock, his musicianship being outstanding on both keys and violin.
The emotions that he conjours up in his songs, just astounds me and takes me into another realm, that few others can replicate.

I wish 'Nostalgia' from 'Zinc' was twice as long ,as it is simply one of the most haunting pieces of music I have ever come across, but I love everything I've heard so far.

Has anyone any live footage of Eddie at all,as I've never seen him live or even on TV except the video of 'Turn It Over" and that was in late 80's.
If anyone can help I'd be indebted to you forever and make it worthwhile.

Thanks much ,peace be with you all,

Phillip

Did you have to do this Gogo?! BLUSH!!!!! CRINGE!!!!! Although I do still think and feel the same about my one and only idol.

Also, ESP has been at work again - last night I lay in my bed and thought about these first posts of ours. At the time I didn't quite know what it was all about. I thought I would write that one piece, and disappear into oblivion again.

Yet, here we still are, despite many trials, tribulations and self-inflicted embarrassments - thanks to all the fun and excitement in between!

Oh what did I do !?!?!?!?!?

OK, I just read your first post, Helen .
BEA---YOOOO---TIF-------FUL !

I guess that is the first Helen rant that I ever read.
I knew for sure that this trip is going to be a fun one.

After Helen's post is one by the Campfire Girl who was staying with us at that time.
I was trying to get her inspired to play more, but as far as I can tell, she has since:
"put my violin up on a shelf (very sad)"
Yup.

But I think my first rant is good. ;)
I wrote:
If Eddie Jobson reads this, congrats on being my Fave musician,
............what a strange way to put it, hey ?
actually, I just read my post and yeah, cringe.
I had never been on a real forum, had no idea what is what.
Ok, just wanted to recognize Peter De Craemer
as the Grand-Daddy of the forum...

It took 3 decades for all these people to find each other.

I shouldn't go on about this.

PS, ever notice than when a band plays a
casino there are tons of requests for the guest list ?

Rereading all of this, thinking back over the past two years, and going back even further down the decades, I am overcome by gratitude.

Thank you Eddie for absolutely everything!

Thank you for this forum. Thank you especially for the wonderful Webmaster, and for all the other dear friends. Thank you for the interesting information, the lessons learnt, the colour, the hope, the peace - all the wonderful things that you have brought to each and every day from behind the scenes.

It's not just about the music, it's about so much more.

(Sorry - I can't help being a pain!)

Gert ! Cool!
Hey, I have no idea who you are, you know, and that is OK.
I just really enjoy your posts and wished to be sure you
are having a good time.

Helen, gratitude., yes.
I am thankful for the new friends.
It was so fun having the Dusty gang over here
and I hope that is the wave of the future for forum members.

I would love to see Faas in Europe, and Lenny, Ruud, and Ferry, you know,
Peter.....I would love to visit South Africa,
Looking forward to UKZ, seeing the gang....

Also yes, thank you to Eddie J and Webmaster for the fun,
and for me, what this forum helps me with
is pure inspiration towards my own projects.

I know this forum is about Eddie music
but we talk about all kinds of stuff here
with a common idea that the highest ideals shall be reached
or at least recognized and aimed towards.

We share much with each other.
This is the first real forum I have ever been a part of,
or taken any interest in......and the only one, really.
Anything I find interesting is covered on this forum,
and anything else....religion, building....whatever.....I have covered here at home.

It's a good deal, and we are all blessed.
Love
Gogo

>This is the first real forum I have ever been a part of, or taken any interest in......and the only one, really.

That describes me too...

Of course, I do have a tremendous contribution to make to a myriad of forums out there, like www.inflatabledrumkit.com (still 'under contruction'), www.gumchewersforum.net, www.petrock-owner.com and www.clapped-outsubaruafficianado.com - y'know, all the good ones and so many more, but I just don't have the time.

I like it here. And, seeing as we're all on the cusp of a whole new chapter in Eddie's career, where else would you want to be? Personally, I can't wait. Or have I said that, already?

>It was so fun having the Dusty gang over here

likewise G-man!

>PS, ever notice than when a band plays a casino there are tons of requests for the guest list ?

Speaking from experience, playing a casino is always a gamble....

I think this forum is great ! It's almost as important as the 1`st cup of coffee in the morning. It's like a newspaper to me. I visit everyday, my contributions are not very often, but I like to read what everyone has to say in all of the parts of the world.
Today, I was touched by a sentence that Gogo wrote.....

.......with a common idea that the highest ideals shall be reached
or at least recognized and aimed towards......

I think this is great. It's ambitious... but not at any price.
In the past, I thought that reaching your goal was the only profit in life.
Nowadays I know that the road to that goal is already the prize.

(it's difficult to say these things in an other language..sorry bout that)

Everybody have a great weekend !

Same with me Ferry, I rarely miss a day checking out the forum. It's hard to imagine what a life without the posts would be like today...
...a bit duller, a bit more ignorant, a bit less fun.
and of course, it's those little things that makes a huge difference.

Thanks.

Well, a toast then to 'our' forum, may it last a lifetime. Though I'm not contributing on every topic and even miss out a day or two visiting this site, it IS and hopefully remains a great place to stay. The nicest thing (IMHO) however is the gentle, humorous and respectful way we communicate with eachother, and may I say that's sadly enough not always the case in real life? ;-) Maybe we start spreading here...
